Images of Yellowstone - Fine Photography

This image is of Orage Mound...a prominent feature found in the Mammoth Hot Springs area. On this day, clouds were moving in and out and it took several shots to try to capture the mound in interesting and contrasting light. This was my favorite as I was able to capture the mound itself in light that was bright enough to brinng out the colors and sparkles in the mound but soft enough that harsh shadows weren't a problem...all while the background trees were in dark shadow but the sky beyond was a marvelous blue. Image size is 11" x 16.3" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.
