The Hoodoos
This picture of "The Hoodoos," a marvelous area of varied rock formation, was taken on a late spring (early June) morning...a day when clouds hung heavy on the horizon. It was taken using a medium format camera and Velvia 50, which yields a very large "digital negative" for exceptional prints. Image size is 12.7" x 17" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.

Lower Falls - Spring
This late-spring image of the lower falls was captured in morning light from the north side of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. This picture was taken using a medium format camera and Velvia 50. Image size is 10.4" x 16.3"on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.

Osprey Falls Trail - Swan Lake Flats
This was taken on a late spring (early June) morning on the trail to Osprey Falls as it passes through Swan Lake Flats. While it's tempting to think that cloudy days make for flat lighting for landscapes, the fact is that when there are occassional shafts of sunlight the result can be a picture with vivid contrasts and colors. This picture was taken using a medium format camera and Velvia 50, which yields a very large "digital negative" for exceptional prints. Image size is 12.5" x 17.2" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.
Big_Horn_Lamb_on_Wall.jpg
Big Horn Lamb on a Wall
This little guy was being quite the little daredevil near the roadside in the Tower Falls area. I sat and watch him for a while; he seemed oblivious to my being there. At one point, he jumped up on this wall and looked at me over his shoulder as if to show off. Image size is 12.5" x 17.2" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.
Courting_Grizzlies.jpg
Courting Grizzlies
This is something very, very few visitors to the park will have the opportunity to see. If you visit the park several days a week for many years you will still probably not see this. I observed these two grizzly bears courting and mating in a late spring (early June) snow storm. I wish I had sound to go with this picture because the bear on the left let out a might roar as if to say, "I said not now!!!" Image size is 9.4" x 18.6" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.
Tower_Falls.jpg
Tower Falls
This picture of Tower Falls was taken the day after a late spring snow storm had moved through the area. Some snow was still left clinging to the trees which gave the shot more contrasting elements to work with. It was taken using a medium format camera and Velvia 50, which yields a very large "digital negative" for exceptional prints. Image size is 12.7" x 15.6" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.

Sheepeater Cliffs Marmot
A marmot on a sunny late spring morning grooming himself on the basalt formations at Sheepeater Cliffs. These guys are pretty calm around visitors and strike a variety of poses...if you're patient! Image size is 12.5" x 17.9" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.
Firehole_River_Falls.jpg
Firehole River Falls
This is a closeup of an area of the Firehole River Falls located in the Firehole River Canyon. It was taken in late spring (early June) when the rivers were full and the falls were abundant. This picture was taken using a medium format camera and Velvia 50, which yields a very large "digital negative" for exceptional prints. Image size is 12.5" x 15" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.

Gardner Fiver Falls, Sheepeater Cliffs Trail
Sheepeater Cliffs is a popular stop on the Grand Loop Road about 7 or 8 miles south of Mammoth Hot Springs. There is a little-known trail that leads east from the Sheepeater Cliffs along the Gardner River. About a half-mile down this trail is this wonderful falls. The view downstream is of a pristine wetland and meadow and about a half-mile further is another falls where the Gardner exits the meadow. This picture is of the first falls and was taken using a medium format camera and Velvia 50, which yields a very large "digital negative" for exceptional prints. Image size is 12.5" x 15.9" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.
Solitary_Bison_Reflection.jpg
Solitary Bison & Reflection
Taken late in the day in the northern part of Yellowstone. This bison was one of a heard of bison passing through the area. I captured this shot as this animal paused to drink. Image size is 10.1" x 18.6" on a 16" x 20" mat and backer.
